● How Sowore accuses the police of failing the anchor of news
The reactions continued to follow the gruesome death of Arise News Anchor, Somochukwu Chriselle Maduagwu, even if a post made weeks before his death had emerged.
In his now viral post, sums, as he was called with affection, wanted to never be captured by the Nigerian situation.
The mail was made on August 14, 2025, just six weeks before his death.
The 29 -year -old lawyer and journalist wrote on X (previously Twitter), “I pray for the depth of my heart that Nigeria never happens to me or anyone who keeps me”.
And in the end Nigeria happened to her, in particular with the reported response of the security agents when they were notified.
Although the initial report was that the sums was killed when the armed thieves attacked his residence in the Katapoli area of Abuja, the territory of the federal capital, has now been revealed that he jumped by his apartment in the six -floors apartment but was not dead on the spot.
Sources they hinted that when the police arrived at the end, they said that there was no fuel in their patrol vehicle and when the journalist and a wounded safety in the estate were broadcast in the hospital, the worst had happened
During the morning show of Arise News on Tuesday, the co-conductor Ojy Okpe also revealed that sums did not died in the hospital.
According to her, “I contacted our correspondent in Abuja, who detailed the circumstances that surrounded his death.
“He jumped down his home when he heard that about 14 armed thieves came to his house.
“And she didn’t die on the spot; she went to the hospital and was rejected.
“This is truly a tragic tragic accident; the life of sums could have been saved, but the hospital rejected it.
“As Nigeria said, it happened to her.”
In the meantime, the publisher of Saharareportters, Omoyel Sowore, Tuesday in Abuja, reproached the Nigerian police forces for the tragic death of the television anchor, Somochukwu Christa Maduagwu, describing it as an example of a look of how “Nigeria kills the most brilliant”.
Manifold Media mourns the death of the television journalist, decrease the abandonment of the hospital
Speaking with journalists outside the Federal Court, where he is facing controversial accusations presented by the Department of State Services (DSS), Sowore has accused the police of negligence and systemic failure that led directly to the journalist’s death.
“They robbed every apartment in that building. They called the police. The police did not show up until she got out of the window, wounded and had no emergency support. She was found alive by the police, but when she had to be taken to the hospital, the police said they hadn’t had a car in the car,” Sowore said.
“Perhaps, perhaps, if the police had not allowed their car to be stolen by thieves, perhaps that car could have helped. So there is a fundamental problem here. Her tragedy is only symptomatic. But I feel so bad for her … Nigeria happened to her.”
Sowore has expanded its criticisms of the largest crisis of insecurity in the country, complaining that the Nigerian normal Nigerians are killed “to downs” to Zamfara, Kaduna, Benue and other states while the government and security agencies chase banalities.
“The people who should be pursued by the DPP (director of public proceedings) are those who commit themselves to bandits and terrorism. But the DPP is probably one of those who meet with them in Zamfara and taking selfie. If I were a terrorist, he would have negotiated with me instead of dragging me in court”, SOWORE ACCOUNT.
Saharareportters previously reported how Somochukwu, popularly called sums, died on Monday 29 September 2025, during an armed robbery in his Katami residence in Abuja.
Find details of a Kanayo Nwachukwu, who identified themselves as a family friend, revealed that the armed thieves stormed the complex of six flat apartments, moving from one apartment to another.
Terrified by confusion, Sommes tried to escape before the thieves reached his apartment. He jumped from his window, undergoing serious injuries.
When the police in the end arrived a few minutes later, it was still alive. But according to Nwachukwu, the eye witnesses said the officers refused to take them to the hospital, claiming that their patrol vehicle had no fuel.
Sometimes he managed to contact his mother’s accurate friend in Abuja to ask for help, but when the woman arrived, she was dead.
“This is how Nigeria happened to this young, vibrant and promising star,” complained Nwachukwu.
However, according to his colleague Ojy Okpe, who broadcast the story of the station correspondent of the station, sums jumped from his window after learning that about 14 armed thieves had stormed the building.
“And she didn’t die on the spot, she went to the hospital and was rejected,” he said.
“The life of sums could have been saved, but the hospital rejected it.”
Born on December 26, 1995, Sompes returned to Nigeria after studying law in the United Kingdom. He attended the Faculty of Nigerian jurisprudence and joined the TV in 2024.
His death has aroused indignation at national level, with many Nigerians citing his case as another gloomy accusation of insecurity, poor response to emergencies and state failure.
In a declaration signed by his direction, Arise TV described sums as “a vibrant voice that has committed and connected with the spectators” and requested a complete investigation and a judicial procedure against the managers.
Many Nigerians, who are reacting on social media, claim to be more damaged by the fact that Nigeria has finally taken place to the young journalist. [Law and Society magazine]
