The 27 -year -old striker responded with a performance that not only justified the substitution, but also changed the course of the game in favor of Nigeria.

In just 45 minutes, Okoronkwo brought renewed energy and tactical sharpness. He constantly stretched the Tunisian defense, fell deeply to link the game, drew fouls and provided perfectly weighted assistance for the 84-minute goal of Chinwendu Ihezuo that sealed the 3-0 victory.

“It doesn’t matter where I start, what matters is the impact I have on the game,” Okoronkwo said after the game, his shirt soaked and smiled in the mixed area. “Every time I piss the field, I’m ready to give everything.”

From his first touch, Okoronkwo imposed a new tempo. His presence forced Tunisia to reorganize the defensive, and almost contributed to another objective in the 73rd minute with a powerful race and cut that Uchenna Kanu buried, just to see the discarded effort offside offside.

“That is what I expect from her,” said coach Madugu in his comments after the game. “She doesn’t need to write down to be important. Read the game well, anticipate movements and create opportunities. Today, the game’s dynamics changed.”

The numbers supported their influence, 24 touches, 88% pass precision, two created opportunities, three fouls won and one assistance, all in just half of football.

While Oshoala had scored in the first half, his general performance lacked fluidity. The energetic exhibition of Okoronkwo offered a contrast that revitalized the Super Falcons attack game.

His efforts earned him the Match player award, a rare feat for a substitute, but one deserved for an action that combined quality, determination and intelligence.

Nigeria, now sitting comfortably on Group B, continues her search for a tenth Wafcon title with her next accessory to prove her growing impulse.
