2 things – 1) Ohtani is the clear MVP – not giving an MVP to a guy with an .840 OPS when the other has nearly 1.000 and it’s always been an offensive award

Like Jack said. Its most valuable player not best hitter. To be one of the best defenders in the league and best hitters in the league compared to just the best hitter. Take lindor off the Mets and they are 15 under .500. Take Ohtani off the dodgers they probably lose 3 more games. Lindor is the most VALUABLE player

Usually I discount the Wins above Average from defense a little bit but Lindor has had a sterling track record of defense so i'm more inclined to believe it. If Lindor has a 160 wrc+ the rest of the way and Ohtani just keeps up his performance I would think Lindor would be a relatively easy choice for me. Also 137 vs 167 wrc+ is different but less different between no defensive value and best SS defender in the league defensive value!

Lindor is having a great year, Ohtani is having a historic year. It happened in the NL last year too where the player having a historic year won the MVP over someone who wasn't having as great of a year offensively but offered more defensively. And I agreed that it was the right call in the end.
Taylor Ward gave BOwden Francis shit and it was uncalled for.
It sounds crazy given the numbers, I realize, but I cannot abide by a DH as MVP.
