While the governor alia shows Benue’s transformation …

While Nigeria marked its 65th anniversary of independence, Rev. P. Dr. Hyacinth alia, governor of Benue’s state, joined the voices with the presidency to affirm that Nigeria remains a United Nation – Desverse in tribes and regions, but bound by a spirit of unrestrained unity.

Speaking during the celebration of 1 October, the governor alia described the anniversary as a “unique request for reflection and evaluation”, urging the Nigerians to revisit the visionary ideals of the founding fathers of the nation. He praised their sacrifices, not only in the struggle for freedom from colonial domain, but in placing the milestone of unity and peace that continues to keep the country together.

The governor alia, a strong supporter of education, underlined that the most lasting enhancement that the founding fathers have left access to education. Since he assumed the assignment, he has made education a fundamental priority, renewing 354 public schools to improve learning environments throughout Benue’s state.

With an unprecedented move, the Administration also employed over 9,000 qualified graduate teachers with strong educational backgrounds to increase teaching standards and fill the gap of students-tongers.

The results of the governor alia in the infrastructures attracted national attention, prominently placing Benue’s state in the news for the right reasons. Under his leadership, the state recorded the first historians, in particular the construction of Benue’s first ride bridges, which have significantly improved access and flow of traffic between the capital and the neighboring states.

These projects, together with a vast dualization of the main roads, have gained the support of the federal ministry of works and homes, leading to greater collaborations in the strengthening of road infrastructures throughout the state.

Another historical development is the revitalization of Otobi’s water works, which now provides clean drinking water to the residents of Otukpo, surrounding otobi and communities, a long -awaited milestone in the efforts to access the state water.

Remaining faithful to the identity of Benue as a nation’s food basket, the governor alia put agriculture at the center of the economic awakening of the state. He reported the 2025 cutting season with a large -scale distribution of agricultural input subsidized to thousands of farmers, aimed at enhancing productivity and promoting agricultural exports.

The governor is also working to industrialize Benue’s agricultural production through the institution of key industries such as Benue’s fruit factory and revitalized food baskets for the food basket, movements that are already attracting private investors and generating jobs for youth and rural development.

In a deliberated push towards inclusive development, the governor alia has launched numerous training and entrepreneurship programs, for the benefit of over 10,000 people, including over 40,000 public employees. These programs aim to promote self -sufficiency, reduce unemployment and equip the workforce for a diversified economy.

The administration has also expanded the development of the ability to ensure that women and young people are often more affected by poverty-do not be left behind in development.

On health care, the governor alia reiterated his belief that “health is wealth”. He has undertaken to continue investing in health infrastructures, essential drugs and better access to services, in particular in rural and underlying areas.

For safety, he recognized the efforts of the armed forces and the security agencies of Nigeria, praising their dedication in restoring peace in parts in difficulty of Benue’s state. He assured the residents that his government is committed to guaranteeing lives, agricultural land and community, affirming:

“With courage, intelligence and collaboration, we will restore peace in every centimeter of our land.”

As part of larger reforms, the Governor Alia also underlined the cut of government expenses, ensuring that state resources are prudently managed to meet the needs of urgent development. His emphasis on transparency and sincerity of purposes has won the support of many, including partners at the federal level.

Concluding his discourse of the day of independence, the governor alia reminded the Nigerians who, despite the challenges, the strength of the country lies in its diversity and resilience. Echoing the spirit of the national National, he said:

“My dear people, we renew our commitment for unity: one, a purpose, a fate. In the face of difficulties, we keep hope alive. In our diversity, we find strength; in our challenges, we find opportunities.”

His words echoed well beyond the ceremonial reasons, residing with the millions of Nigerians who continue to believe in the dream of a united, progressive and prosperous nation.

While Benue continues to climb under his leadership, governor Hyacinth alia not only redefined governance in the state, but has become a symbol of visionary leadership and national unity at a time when Nigeria needs it more.
