‘Why I chose Galatasaray over arsenal, others’

Leroy Sane says he chose to join Galatasaray due to the “club size” and “how much interest they showed” this summer, despite receiving numerous offers to leave Bayern Munich.

Before a possible free transfer to the Turks Super Lig, the 29 -year -old attacker arrived in Istanbul early on Thursday morning to the welcome of a hero.

In the photo with a Galatasaray scarf covered around his neck, Sane greeted and smiled widely to the large multitude of followers who had gathered outside Ataturk airport.

In an effort to maintain Sané, Bayern had offered the German International a new lucrative contract to extend its stay for the next season and beyond.

However, Sané opted for a transfer to Galatasaray, where an eye of £ 11 million per season is expected to win after changing its representation to the super agent Pini Zahavi.

“The atmosphere here was always incredible. It was very, very strong. That’s why I’m happy to return,” he said to the Turkish media upon his arrival in Istanbul.

“I can’t wait to play my first game against fans.”

According to reports, Arsenal was one of the clubs that closely monitored the situation of the Sané contract, and it is said that the end was interested in a transfer to the Emirates.

Sane went to his Instagram page on Thursday, June 12, 2025 to write a sincere farewell message for Bayern Munich fans.

“Dear Bayern fans, after 5 years intense here in Munich, I decided to start a new chapter in the next season. I am incredibly proud to have wearing the shirt of the best and largest club in Germany for more than 200 cohes and I will always appreciate the titles we have won together,” Sane wrote.

“Thanks to the club, the coaching staff, everyone behind the scene, my
teammates, and especially you, fans, for the time we have shared and the memories we have made. I will always be grateful for my time here @fcbayern! “
