Why we lost to Norway – Nigeria U20 coach explains the defeat of the opening game

The Nigeria U20 team coach Aliyu Zubairu explained the reason behind the defeat of his team’s opening game against Norway in the current U20 World Cup in Chile, reports Owngoalnigeria.com.

A goal in the ninth minute of Rasmus Holten said that Norway obtained his campaign in the current U20 World Cup with a flight start with a 1-0 victory over Nigeria.

Nigeria dominated the game, especially the second half, but crucially failed to obtain a goal that would have seen them choose a point that their efforts deserved.

Speaking after the game, the coach lamented the goal that his team scored and also the fact that they had bad luck to turn the numerous possibilities that arose during the game.

“It was a hard luck. We created several scoring opportunities and we even had a rejected goal: if that had been high, the game could have been different. But that is football. Possession does not win games; take advantage of the opportunities, and we fail to do it,” he explained in the conference after the game.

“Now, our approach is in the next game against Saudi Arabia, where we will fight for the 3 points.”
