The Minister of the Territory of the Federal capital (FCT), Nyesom Wike, condemned the strike on the First Lady, Oltemi Tinubu, by some women in the state of the rivers.
Wike described the strike on the president’s wife as an embarrassment for the people of the state.
A group of women, on Friday 2 May 2025, came out of the renewed Empowerment program of the Hope initiative organized by the First Lady office and held in Port Harcourt, the capital of the state of sparrows.
The women asked for the return of the suspended governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara.
Wike, in a statement released on Saturday by his special assistant for public communications and on social media, Lere Olayinka, described the accident as “very disturbing and embarrassing”, warning the supporters of the governor suspended to desist the state of the rivers from the ridiculous.
The minister, who apologized to First Lady and President Bola Tinubu on behalf of the people of the State of the Rivers, said: “The insult to anyone who represents the First Lady of Nigeria in an event is a direct insult in the office of the president and commander in the head of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and as a leader in the state of the threads, I apologize.”
He urged Fubara to demonstrate honesty being quite bold to say to Tinubu, what he wanted exactly, rather than saying something today and doing something else tomorrow.
Wike added: βIt is not enough to visit people to ask for peace, those who sincerely want peace and act for this.
βThese are the same people who ask for peace, but at the same time to do things that are contrary to those who are pleading.
βHow can you say that you want peace and at the same time, are you sponsoring people to insult everyone, including the president and his wife?
βAll those Shenanigans will not bring peace, and I’m sure they know it, because they are not sincere with their memories up and down peace.
“As for me and those who enroll in my leadership, we condemn in the totality that yesterday’s shame show and we apologize to our First Lady for the embarrassing conduct of those few women who do not represent the characters and ideals of the people of Rivers.”
