Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), engaged in a verbal exchange with Senator Ireti Heebah Kingibe, warning him that he would lose the support of the people in the upcoming elections in 2027.
Speaking at the Opening of the Mabushi Bus Terminal in Abuja on Monday, Wike expressed disappointment over Senator Kingibe’s criticism of the FCT Government instead of collaborating with them.
“I heard someone on Arise TV this morning. Unfortunately, I heard that the person is a member of the National Assembly and it is very unfortunate for me to say that. With all due respect, what you don’t know, you don’t know, what you know you know, and what is good for you is to tell people what you don’t know when you don’t know, then people will educate you. ,” commented Wike.
He continued, responding directly to the criticism, “The Honorable Minister of State and myself have not been in office for more than 11 months and the person is angry for praising us. If you don’t want to or are angry about it, go and hang yourself from the transformer. If we’ve done well, we’ve done well. If we haven’t done it well, we haven’t done it well. I am proud to say that in the short time since Mr President appointed us, we have done well.”

Wike challenged Senator Kingibe’s legislative record, questioning his contribution to improving the education and health sectors in the FCT. He also issued a political challenge, stating, “I challenge that legislator. If you are very popular, go ahead and run in Abuja in 2027, we will disappoint you.”
Confirming his position as FCT Minister, Wike stressed, “Luckily for me, I am now FCT Minister. So that’s my territory and I’m not afraid.”
Wike also dismissed the need to seek political alliances, stating, “We are not begging for anyone to be our friend; we have so many friends we can’t even take them.”
Senator Kingibe had previously criticized the Wike-led government in a television programme, and distanced himself from any personal relationship with the minister.
