A woman who has not yet been identified was arrested Monday after allegedly firing several shots near a Los Angeles-area home associated with global music star Rihanna, authorities confirmed.
According to police, there were no injuries in the incident that occurred Sunday afternoon in the Beverly Hills area.
Los Angeles police spokesman Officer Charles Miller said authorities responded to a report of shots fired near a residence. A 35-year-old woman was later taken into custody without further incident, and officers recovered a weapon at the scene.
The suspect has been charged on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently being held in jail on $10 million bail, police said. The prosecutor’s office has not yet announced formal charges.
Although police did not officially confirm the identity of the home’s owner, some local media reported that the property belonged to Rihanna, the Grammy-winning singer and business mogul.
Public records show the Beverly Hills property is owned by a trust managed by Evan Jehle, a member of the advisory board of Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation.
It remains unclear whether Rihanna was home when the shooting occurred.
Television station KABC-TV broadcast footage showing five bullet holes in front of the residence gate.
Audio obtained by the station also captured the police officer telling officers:
“A shooting just occurred. Ten shots were fired from the vehicle.”
Authorities said the shots were fired from across the street, although investigators have not revealed a possible motive.
Police have not confirmed whether the suspect has anything to do with Rihanna or the property. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities try to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
