At a well -assisted press conference on Monday, July 21, president of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Wahid Enitan Oshodi, expressed his gratitude to the world tennis of the table (WTT) for selecting Lagos as a host city for the third consecutive edition.
He emphasized the growing reputation of the tournament and the unique energy brought by lake fans.
“We are excited that WTT has trusted us to organize the third edition of WTT Consender Lagos.
“This event has firmly placed Lagos on the global table tennis map, thanks to the passionate support of our fans. It has become one of the most exciting stops in the WTT contestant circuit,” Oshodi said.
Oshodi, who also serves as president of ITTF Africa, highlighted the growing competitiveness of the tournament, promoted by the participation of first -level international players.
He expressed the hope of continuous support from the state government of Lagos and other partners to maintain the growth of the event.
The event supervisor, Maher Ben Ahmed, said that this year’s edition presents players from Europe, Asia, Oceania and Africa, which underline the global attractiveness of the tournament.
“The presence of four continents athletes is a testimony of the growing popularity of the tournament. The Wtt Lagos contender is now one of the most anticipated events of the WTT series,” he said.
The event manager Loh Yuan Yee echoed this feeling, attributing the continuous inclusion of the tournament in the WTT calendar to the enthusiasm it generates among the players. He praised the LOC for his dedication to deliver an event without problems.
The director of the event, Kweku Tandoh, reaffirmed the commitment of the LOC to meet WTT’s expectations, promising greater growth in both scale and quality.
In his comments, the president of the Nigerian Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), Ishaku Tikon, reiterated Nigeria’s leadership role in African table tennis.
He pointed out that WTT annual WTT Lagos contender has significantly raised the standard of sport throughout the continent.
