Yabatech Tars 44 Medals to finish second

Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) transported 44 medals to emerge as the second in the 22nd Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NiPoga) with “Ijakadi 2024” songs, held at the Federal Polytechnic OFFA in the state of Kwara.

The contingent of the University offered remarkable performance throughout the tournament, ensuring an impressive total of 15 gold, 9 silver and 20 bronze medals.

The last edition of the Games had intense competitions in athletics, football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, swimming and many other sports disciplines.

University athletes distinguished themselves with prominent samples of skills, discipline and determination, gaining admiration of spectators and competitors equally.

According to a statement, the feat affirms its position as a leading Polytechnic in Nigeria, both in academics and sports.

Speaking about the performance of the university, the rector, Dr. Eng Ibraheem Abdul, expressed a deep pride and congratulated the entire team for their resistance, focus and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

He reaffirmed his commitment to invest in sports development as part of his vision to produce graduates that are not only worthy of character and learning, but also physically adjust sports to represent the nation in global competitions.

“The games were aimed at promoting friendship and unity among Polytechnic students throughout the country and identifying talent and promoting sports participation internationally,” reiterated Dr. Abdul.
