The Nigerian soccer team coach for the 2016 Olympic Games on the Samson Siasia River has responded to the statements of John Obi Mikel who paid for the team’s air ticket to the tournament.
Mikel was chosen as one of the three players in excess in the team by Siasia as allowed by the rules of the tournament. Nigeria went ahead to choose the bronze medal as an event.
A few days ago, a video clip from Mikel where he said he paid the team’s aerial tickets to the tournament after they were stranded, he had gone viral, he said to date that he has not been reimbursed when he was promised when he decided to collect the bill.
Responding to Siasia said that it is not true to insist that, although Mikel paid some of the hotel’s bills, he did not pay for his aerial tickets.
“Mikel Obi did not pay flight money for the United States Olympic Águilas to Brazil for the 2016 Olympic Games. It’s nothing like that,” Siasia told Ebomo Ebare de Ait Sports in appointments published by Totorines.com.
“We only had problems with the hotel invoices. I think he paid some of the hotel’s bills, but the United States flight to Brazil, Mikel did not pay for that.
Added. “The Delta airline flew us because the Nigerians in the United States were agitated by the issue. A friend of mine went to the president of the Delta airline and resolved the matter.
“Yemi Idowu had previously paid for the team’s plane tickets, but the plane was too small. If Mikel has the receipt in that sense, allow him to show him to the Nigerians that he was the one who paid.
“Mikel did not pay for the team’s plane tickets. I say this as the team chief coach. He should bring the receipt, if he paid.
“It may be bankrupt and looking for money. I should try other means to earn money,” he concluded.
