The president of the Senate Godswill Akpabio described Senator Enyinnaya Abarbe as a man of integrity and an altruistic leader who has constantly supported the interests of his people.
Speaking at the celebration of Abarbe’s 70th birthday organized by the Abia government in Umuaia on Saturday, Akpabio praised the former leader of the Senate minority for his courage and commitment to Ndigbo’s well -being.
“It is not easy to achieve the age of 70 and we are celebrating a man of grace, integrity and excellence,” said Akpabio.
He praised Abarbe for his fear, citing his decision to be a surety for the leader of Biafra’s indigenous people (iPob), Nnamdi Kanu, despite the risks involved.
Akpabio has also praised Abarbe’s profound connection with his voters, affirming: “Abarbe will win an election everywhere because his party is the people, his voters, the people of Sona and the whole Abia”.
In his speech, the governor Alex Otti of Abia described Abarbe as a courageous and altruistic leader who constantly represented the truth and interests of his people.
Otti stressed that leadership concerned thought beyond the elections, stating: “Politicians think about the next elections, but leaders think about the next generation”.
He also announced his intention to celebrate other illustrious leaders Abia in the future.
Abarbe has expressed gratitude for the celebration, marking his seventieth birthday as a privilege and an opportunity to reflect on the lessons of life.
He highlighted the rarity of reaching the age of 70 in Nigeria, citing statistics that show that only 3.02 percent of the Nigerians reached that age.
Abarbe asked the efforts to increase life expectancy in Nigeria.
The Nigeria (Nan) news agency reports that the event included a service in the church and the presentation of a book written by the celebrant.
