Yourself to lead the PDP zoning committee ahead of the National Convention

The Democratic Party Governor Forum has appointed the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye, to lead the committee in charge of determining the zoning of the party office for the upcoming national convention.

According to a statement released on Monday by the Head of the Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, Governor of Dauda Lawal from the state of Zamfara and Caleb Mutfwang from the State of the highlands was also appointed as Deputy Chair and Secretary, respectively, from the Zoning Committee.

In addition, the forum recommends the formation of the National Convention Committee, which will be led by the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, with Governor Ademola Adeleke from Osun state as Deputy Chair and Peter Mbah from the Enugu state as Secretary.

This recommendation is subject to approval by the National Work Committee (NWC) and the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PDP, is part of the communication issued after the governor’s meeting at the Governor of the State Governor of Oyo in Ibadan.

The Governor of Bala Mohammed from the state of Bauchi, the Chairperson of the PDP Governor Forum, who presented communication, also clarified that PDP would not participate in the coalition or merged any other political parties ahead of the 2027 election.

The forum reiterated his intention to find the Supreme Court’s decision on the interpretation of the Emergency Declaration State and reiterate its support for the suspected governor of the river state, Siminaayi Fubara.

Communike stated, “Paying attention to national speculation about the possibility of combining political parties, groups, and/or associations, the forum decided that PDP would not join any coalition or merged.

“However, PDP as the main opposition party welcomes the party, people, or any group who are willing to join the aim to seize power and bring good leadership in 2027.

“The forum repeated its position taken in Asaba about the problem of the National Secretary of the Party, but after the decision of the Supreme Court, the forum decided to recommend that the Deputy Secretary of the National Secretary acts as the National Secretary, while waiting for the nomination and ratification of the Substantive Secretary from the Southeast Eastern Zone and NEC each at the next meeting.

“The forum reiterated our collective determination to prevent the rape of our constitutional democracy; therefore the decision to approach the Supreme Court to give a clear decision on the interpretation of the provisions of the law on the declaration of emergencies in any state.

“This forum expressed its solidarity with His Majesty, Sir Siminaayi Fubara, in the trials where the state and the people fell with an emergency declaration. And we reiterate our commitment to stand with him until the end.

“This forum feels worried about the deteriorating security situation in the country, as proven in several parts of the country, especially Borno, Plateau, Katsina and Edo. This forum called for priority and rearrangement of priorities and strategies, including adopting bottom-up templates that guarantee sub-nationals to form effective defense lines against security violations.

“When raising the above concerns, we condemn new attacks in the state of the highlands, and sympathize with the government and people in the state, especially those who lose their lives and property during this unfortunate accident.

“The forum is to work that working together with the National Work Committee (NWC) and other relevant organs of the party, to hold a NEC meeting on May 27, 2025; is a zoning committee that will discuss all problems related to zoning party office zoning and holding the initial convention in August 2025, precisely on 28, 29, 30, 30, 309, 309, to -29, 3025 in August.

“This forum is the same – the same recommended the constitution of the Zoning and National Convention Committee for the ratification by NWC and NEC as follows: Zoning Committee: Governor Doubleye Self – Chairman of the Governor Dauda Lawal – Deputy Chairperson and Governor Caleb Mutfwang – Secretary of the National Convention has Governor Ahmadu Fintiri US Gov. Mbah as Secretary.”
