The Zamfara State Council Council openly criticized the Governor of Dauda Lawal for what was described by members of parliament as a bad handling of the deteriorating state security situation, calling for the Federal Government to be responsible for operations against bandits.
In Tuesday’s plenary, members under the speaker Bashar Gummi painted a gloomy picture of the uncensless bandit attack, accusing the governor of ignoring the victim and failing to show empathy through visits, delegations, or assistance.
Moving a motion, Bashir Masama, a member who represented Bukkuyum North, praised the efforts of the federal government but regretted the destruction in his constituency.
“In my area, four communities, including Adabka, Zauma, Gwashi and other villages along the Mayachi -Bukkuyum Road, have suffered the most in the hands of the attackers,” Masama said, adding that residents fled for safety.
Supporting the motion, Bashir Zango from Bungudu West registered his devastated community: Gidan Bugaje, Gida Age, Kukan Nine and Gidan Dan-Inna, said the area had become a “war zone where anyone who traveled there committed suicide.”

Aliyu Kagara, a minority house leader who represented the South Mafara Talata, identified morai, bobbo, makera, jangebe, gwarram, and Ruwan Gizo as the most terrorist villages in his area.
MPs decided that the federal government had to “turn the face of the state government” and take total control over security in Zamfara, accused that the governor’s actions made a security agent who was frustrated.
They also urge citizens to remain obedient to the law and provide credible intelligence to security operators.
Ibrahim Bakura, who represented the constituents of the Bakura, said his people were surrounded. “Recently, the people of Damri, Dakko, Kwanar Kalgo, the same, Sabon Garin Damri and the Sade community were beaten by bandits and a large number of their animals were fulfilled, but the government did not care or sympathize with the support of talks without strengthening security,” he said.
Amiru Keta from Tsafe West reported a daily attack on his constituents with a little or without assistance from the state, while Faruk Dosara from Maradun I accused the government of “leaving his people” and calling on the DPR to consider serving the Governor with a notification of impeachment for the “negligence and total abuse of position.”
Nasiru Maru from Maru North condemned the alleged persecution of villagers who carried out peaceful protests in government buildings.
He asked, “How does a reasonable leader directing political thugs to defeat refugees for staging peaceful protests that require the government to return them to their homes?”
Reacting, the Governor’s Special Assistant on the Media and Communication, Mustafa Jafaru, insisted that security was the responsibility of the federal government.
“I always wonder every time the Governor Dauda is blamed for not ending the bandits in the state of Zamfara. I also see those who criticize it to security for one of the constitutions of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or do that for a selfish reason,” he said.
Jafaru added, “There are more than 20 states in Nigeria who face security challenges, and the state of Zamfara is one of them, so it will be a welcome development if the federal government can enter and solve problems for the rapid development of the people of Nigeria.”
