A terrible account about the security crisis in the state of Zamfara appeared on Wednesday as Hon. Aminu Jaji, a member of the House of Representatives, told the cruelty carried out by Bandit, including the newborn’s brutal murder who was allegedly fed the dog.
Jaji, who represented the Kaura-Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituently under the Congress of all Progressive (APC), spoke to reporters at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, expressed deep concern over violence that was not checked damaged constituents and other parts of the northwest.
“A pregnant woman was kidnapped. She gave birth to a set of twins in captivity. Then the leader of the bandit took the twins and threw them at her dog. Dogs eating it, one by one,” he said in a trembling voice, seemed to be shaken when he delivered a tragic account.
“This is something we need to rise to that opportunity. We need to talk to ourselves. Something needs to be done,” he added.

Jaji paints a gloomy picture of the current state of his constituents, where mass abduction, murder, and violation of the law have become norms. “In my electoral area alone, more than 200 people have been kidnapped by bandits. Two weeks ago, 60 people were kidnapped in Banga. 10 of them were then killed because the community could not increase the ransom of the N30M requested by the kidnappers,” he said.
“When we grieve, 25 others were taken from Gabake. Only yesterday, the new attack occurred in Kungurki,” he continued.
MPs accused the bandits of effectively building control over the wider regions of their constituencies, terrorizing innocent civilians, and positioning themselves as de facto authorities.
Jaji also rejected the idea to declare an emergency in Zamfara and reject the call for Nigeria to involve foreign mercenary army in the war against rebels.
“I do not believe that in Nigeria, we need a mercenary to demand a war against terrorists,” he said. “Our dashing soldiers have the capacity to secure the country. But the only thing we need to do as a country is to increase a little and more digital in our way of operating.”
“Honestly, I do not subscribe to the idea of employing mercenaries. We must ensure the resources given to our security agents by the federal government are satisfying.
“But let’s make sure the monitoring and efficacy of how they carry out their duties, and then, how they can continue to be supported in terms of their welfare. If they are motivated in terms of their welfare and many other things, they can step against these people,” he added.
He called for a total overhaul of state security architecture, causing concerns that the President of the Tinubu soccer might not accept accurate intelligence about the actual scale of the crisis in the northwestern.
When this region continues to roll under the burden of rebellion and insecurity, the terrible testimony of Jaji has added urgency to national conversations about the best way to respond to increased bandits.
