The governor of the state of Borno, Babagana Umara Zulum, held a high -level meeting
With the main parties interested in the education sector to review current challenges and outline new directives to improve learning results, infrastructures and coordination throughout the state.

The meeting, chaired by the Governor at the Chamber of the Council of the Maiduguri Government House Thursday, brought together high officials of the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation and Education, Agencies and Institutions.

Zulum underlined the synergy among all the education agencies of the education sector, noting that with adequate collaboration an effective delivery of the service for the people of Borno would have been provided.

Governor Zulum has outlined a multifaceted plan to rejuvenate the education sector, which includes the construction of houses for teachers, the renewal of dilapidated schools, the supply of professional development opportunities and the improvement of accessing teachers to resources.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor, Umar Usman Kadafur, head of the interim staff, Dr. Babagana Mustapha Mallumbe, commissioner for education, science, technology and innovation, Engr Lawan Abba Wakilbe, among other high officials.

In the meantime, as part of his political direction for the education sector, the Babagana Governor Umara Zulum has directed the establishment of further Islamic colleges in some areas of the local government.

High Islamic colleges are designed to offer a wide range of programs, including traditional Islamic studies, literacy and numbering, modern sciences and professional training.

According to Zulum, the Islamic high colleges had to guarantee the integration of the non -formal education sector with formal education. He also said that colleges will sign the basic literacy, the numbering and professional skills to the pupils of Almajiri and will offer a second possibility for children out of school who have passed the age of enrollments.

In addition, the governor has directed the establishment of further state libraries in Biu, in southern Borno and Monguno, in the northern part of the state.
