₦ 13 billion accusations of irregular contracts are not burdened, Malicicous – Ministry of Finance

The Federal Ministry of Finance has denied the new online report that accused the deviation in the granting of a contract of ₦ 13 billion between February and June 2024, describing the report is baseless and dangerous.

The rejection was contained in a statement on Monday, May 5, 2025 by the Director of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry, Mohammed Manga.

Previously, an online platform suggested that the ministry, under the leadership of the Minister of Finance and the Coordinating Minister for Economic, Wale Edun and the Permanent Secretary of Ny. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, violated the procurement procedure.

Responding to, the Ministry stressed that every contract given during the stated period, including those under the President’s initiative on compressed natural gas (PI-CNG), fully fulfill the Public Procurement Law and all applicable laws.

The statement reads, “The ministry wants to expressly state that the contract is not given without a legal process.

“These claims are not only unfounded but also malicious, aimed at not only tarnishing the reputation of the honorable minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Mr. Wale Edun, and the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. The Ongoing Initiatives Embarked Upon by the Ministry in Reving of the Nation’s Economy in Line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President of Administrative Soccer led by Ahmed Tinubu

“The ministry further wants to declare that all contracts given from February to June 2024 are included in the presidential initiative on compressed natural gas (PI CNG) and with other contract extensions are carried out in accordance with public procurement laws and relevant laws and regulations.

It also recognizes the role of the media in ensuring transparency, accountability, and good governance and thus, urges the media to always examine all information before going to the press because they will not hesitate to take legal action against every individual or organization that seeks to damage its reputation through wrong and evil publications.

He also warned the media for the dissemination of information that was not verified, urged responsible journalism and vowed that the ministry would not hesitate to seek legal compensation for the wrong report and slander.

“We urge the community to ignore this publication and assume that the ministry works diligently to implement the president’s economic reform and improve the lives of Nigerians,” the statement concluded.
