120,000 captured in the oppression of Sri Lanka drugs

At least 120,000 people have been arrested in Sri Lanka for various violations related to drugs this year.

The Ministry of Public Security said in a statement on Tuesday said the suspects were between January 1 and August 11.

From them, 39,627 were arrested for heroin ownership and related violations, 47,615 due to ownership of metamfetamine crystals (ICE), and 42,620 for violations related to cannabis.

Law enforcement officers also seized 934.55 kilo heroin, 1,402.9 kilo ice, and 11,620 kilos of marijuana.

The ministry stated that they would continue their operations, spread the Sri Lanka police and his triors, to eradicate drug threats, suppress organized crimes, and reduce accidents throughout the country.
