13 kidnapped passengers saved in Edo

The police commissioner of the state of Edo (CP), on Monday Agbonika, confirmed the rescue of the 13 passengers kidnapped by armed men.

The passengers were taken away by armed men around Ekiatolor on the Benin-Wreeen highway on Saturday afternoon after the armed men attacked the bus in which they were traveling.

The kidnappers had shot the bus driver and abandoned him next to the bus before marching the victims in the surrounding bushes.

Agbonikan confirmed a manhunt for kidnappers with special teams, drones and other equipment deployed in the bushes.

The police boss also confirmed that the injured driver was responding to the care in the hospital in Benin.

Giving an additional update Tuesday, Agbonikan said that the kidnapped victims were saved, adding that the research was still active for suspicions.

“We saved all the victims. Everyone was saved. We found ourselves from the day the accident occurred. We sided drones and other gadgets in the bush to help in the research,” he said.

A report from the National newspaper said that the Social Media activist, Martins Vincent Otse aka Moladarkman (VDM) made a video when his vehicle arrived on the scene in which the accident occurred.

In the video, the wounded driver who lying on the side of his bus with his blood -soaked clothes was raised from the ground in the trunk of a Hilux and rushed to the hospital.
