At least 13 people were killed and 22 others were declared missing after a ship reversed in the state of Zamfara on Friday.
The boat brought residents of Birnin Magaji who fled from bandits who attacked the previous community on Friday when it was reversed in the river near the community.
The incident occurred 24 hours after a number of unspecified people died in a similar accident in the Jaranja River, the Shagari Regional Government in the Sokoto state.
A health worker, Shehu Mohammed, told reporters on Saturday that he lost three people in the incident.

He said: “My eldest son and two nephews were among the 13 people who died.
“People panicked and rushed to the ship. It can’t hold everyone.”
Head of Birnin Magaji District, confirmed the incident.
“13 people have been confirmed to have died, 22 saved, and 22 others are still missing,” he said.
