15 people injured in multiple accidents in Lagos

At least 15 passengers were injured in several accidents in the Ojota area of ​​Lagos on Thursday.

Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed this in a statement in Ikeja.

Oke-Osanyintolu said the accident was reported via the state’s toll-free emergency numbers 767 and 112.

He said: “The LASEMA Response Team from the Command and Control Centre, C3, Alausa, rushed to the scene.

“They arrived at the scene of a collision involving three vehicles under the Ojota Interchange Bridge at around 11.40.

“Upon arrival, it was discovered that the accident involved a BRT bus with registration number EXY-167XY, an articulated truck whose registration number was unknown, and an 18-seater commercial bus with registration number JJJ-439YG.

“The articulated truck was loaded with a 40 foot container.

“Further investigation revealed that the articulated truck, while heading inside Ketu, suddenly lost control while moving.

“The truck skidded off the road and collided with a BRT bus heading to Ojota from the opposite direction.

“The BRT then slipped from its lane onto the service lane and collided with a yellow commercial bus.

“15 people were injured. There were no critical injuries or fatalities recorded.

The BRT bus suffered significant damage to the front and rear, and the truck’s tractor head was also damaged, he said.

He added that the injured victims were transported to the nearest hospital for treatment.

“The four victims were treated by the agency’s pre-hospital care team together with the Lagos State Ambulance Service at the scene.”
