2024 WAFCON: It will be disastrous for Super Falcons – Oparazie

Nigeria needs to remind the experienced veterans for the WAFCON if the team must have any possibility of winning the tournament, according to the former Super Falcons eaves, Desire Oparazie.

Oparazie, who called Time in his international career in 2023 won four Wafcon titles, does not believe that the current Super Falcons have an opportunity against the strongest teams on the continent.

The Super Falcons is offering to win a tenth title and will begin its campaign in the group phase against Algeria, Tunisia and Botswana.

Under Justin Madugu, the Super Falcons have seen in an influx of young exciting talents led by some senior players.

Madugu supervised the team qualification for the WAFCON, as well as the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

He also guided them to a double heading victory over Algeria, but lost to France in international friendly matches played last year.

In June, Nigeria beat Cameroon 2-0 in a friendly, and they were not like Asisat Oshoala, Ashleigh Plumptre and a large number of other established players.

But, Oparazie insists that the Super Falcons coach will return to the status quo for the WAFCON itself.

‘I don’t think some of the new players form the team; They have no experience for a tournament of this caliber, it will be disastrous’ Oparazie commented.

“Eventually, they will have to go with our usual team.”
