2024 Wafcon: Super Falcons of Nigeria faces Algeria, preparation for a step for the clashes of the quarter -finals

The nine times champions of Nigeria will use the final clash of the group B on Sunday with Lady Fennecs of Algeria to prepare hard for their date of the quarter-finals with the hosts of Morocco or the ambitious Zambia-Due teams that any team will underestimate at their own risk.

The two teams (Morocco and Zambia) were also those who rubbed the mud on the faces of the Super Falcons at the last edition of the competition, also hosted by Morocco. The hosts represented the Falcons in the semifinals (through Penalty Shootout after a 1-1 draw in regulation and extra time) and the copper queens put the Falcons 1-0 in the rain in the third place match.

The coach Justine Madugu, who was also in the technical crew of that championship, is aware that his accusations must be the best to overcome the hosts or the copper queens, or even Senegal who still have the opportunity to end well if they survive the lionese in their last day group.

“Our commitment was to take it one game at a time. We believe in our approach and we will adopt the tactics, the model and the approach we believe can give us the victory in every game. We respect all the teams but they are not afraid.”

The lonely defeat of the Botswana Algeria on day 1 of group B and the subsequent draw with Tunisia brought them to four points, two behind Nigeria and with a potential quarter -final quarter with one of the reigning champions of South Africa, Mali, Tanzania and Ghana as group C is still delicate.

Sunday’s meeting at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca will revive the memories of the two friendly matches of the team in Nigeria in the last quarter of last year, during which the Falcons affirmed superiority over the North Africans with 2-0 and 3-1 defeats. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade scored both goals in Ikenne, off the coast of Razzi on a long range, while Fulashade Ijamiusi, now based in China and also with the Falcons in Morocco, was the star of the second game at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos with a dip.

Madugu will have to do without the director of USA Deborah Inhabitun, who received yellow cards in both games against Tunisia and Botswana, and must therefore sit this against the Algerians.

Probable for taking his place are the lively Esther Okoronkwo-Che quickly revived the previous matches of Nigeria in this tournament during the introduction, and has two assists and Woman of the match Award from the 3-0 defeat of Tunisia-and the quiet but diligent Jennifer Echegini, who plays his club in France.

However, Madugu can choose to alter patterns and personal and drag the energetic Toni Payne into the role of the directors, with Ajibade descended on the large and with perhaps Francesca Ordega on the left, with the early re -entry Babajide in the role of central attack.

The victory will not only extend the superiority of the Falcons compared to the Algerians, but will support the winning mentality of the Nigerian girls (they have not lost a game this year) and will put an excellent melody in her arms for a quarter -final duel potentially explosive next Friday.
