The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is facing fresh internal turmoil following allegations by the party pressure group alleging possible disloyalty among some of its top figures.
Osun APC Positive Force Movement has raised concerns over what it describes as alleged veiled partisanship involving the party’s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, and former deputy governor, Iyiola Omisore. The group claimed that these alleged developments indicated growing rifts within the party ahead of the next governorship election and called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene.
In a statement issued by its secretary, Hakeem Oyelade on Sunday, the group said speculation surrounding Basiru’s alleged support for Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Accord Party candidates had increased distrust within the party ranks. “There are widespread allegations that the National Secretary is not fully aligned with the APC candidate and may be working behind the scenes to benefit the incumbent,” Oyelade said. “The Minister’s body language and especially the support he is getting from Accord media suggests there is more than meets the eye.”
The group further pointed to circulating claims regarding possible long-term political calculations involving the National Secretary. “There are rumors that the National Secretary wants the incumbent to retain his seat while power may return to the Central Senatorial District in 2030, where he believes he will be anointed and get ‘revenge’ from the Adeleke group,” Oyelade alleged.
They also cited recent social and political interactions that confirmed their suspicions, specifically referring to the wedding ceremony of Omisore’s son. According to the group, “the wedding ceremony lent credence to the now smooth relations between Otunba Omisore and the Adeleke family,” noting that prominent figures from Adeleke’s political circle and several defected PDP MPs were also present.
The statement further stated that there may have been a meeting involving key actors across political lines. “We also gathered that there was a meeting between the National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore and Akinleye, Adeleke’s Chief of Staff,” Oyelade claimed, describing the reported involvement as detrimental to party unity.

Calling for immediate action, the group appealed directly to the President to address growing concerns within the party. “We urge Mr President to ask our party’s National Secretary to address the issue of his 2030 ambitions once and for all,” the statement added.
While the allegations remain unproven, they have raised internal unease within the Osun APC, raising new questions about cohesion and loyalty as political activity ahead of the upcoming elections begins to ramp up.
