2025 Final Afrobasket Women: Tinubu Hails of Tigress Qualification for the 5th consecutive final

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu congratulated the women’s basketball team of Nigeria, D’Tigress, for their considerable result of achieving the FIBA women’s Fibasket final of 2025 for the fifth consecutive time, following a victory fought over Senegal.

The president praised the resilience and domination of the reigning champions, who have now defeated their Senegalese rivals for the seventh time, with a historic victory of 75-68 at the Palais de la Sport, Treichville, Abidjan, Costa d’Avoire.

The president Tinubu celebrated the victory of the team in what was nicknamed “the final before the final” and for having already ensured a place in the qualifying tournaments of the Fiba women’s World Cup of 2026, scheduled for March 2026.

“I observed the discipline, focus and team spirit constantly exhibited by D’Ap Tigress during this tournament, when they brought honor to our nation and gained respect for our players and coaches all over the world.

“In particular, I command Rena Wakama, the first leader of the team coach, whose leadership and experience – both on the field and now from the bench – continues to inspire of tigress to new heights in this highly competitive sport,” he said.

The president assured D’Am Tigress of his support while pursuing their fifth consecutive Afrobasket and seventh absolute title.
