2027: The Labor Party Faction measures Obi’s romance with ADC, said Datti who qualified for the presidential ticket

A National Secretary of the Labor Party Factional (LP), Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, has explained that the 2027 presidential ticket was not exclusive for each individual, emphasizing that Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed was equally fulfilling his requirements with Peter Obi for charity for the President.

Speaking in an interview with Trust TV, Ibrahim criticized Obi’s relations that developed with the leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting that such steps could endanger his chances of returning as a candidate for Presidential LP.

“Datti meets the requirements for the presidency as good as Peter Obi. So, the nomination seat is not provided for anyone. This is open to competitive contests,” Ibrahim said.

He noted that while Obi and Baba-Ahmed formed a formidable ticket in the 2023 general election, the labor party was guided by democratic principles and would not order the president’s slot for each individual, regardless of the role or popularity of the past.

“If Datti is willing to aspire to the president and he wants to do that under the labor party, we will open it. Come and buy forms, mobilize their support and then be elected.

His statement came shortly after Datti Baba-Ahmed signaled the possibility of running for the Presidential 2027, stating that he would step forward if Obi chose to get out of the race.

Apart from the sad tension, Datti has reiterated his loyalty to Obi, stating that his former school principal “deserves another chance” to fight on the party platform. He also stressed that the president was not an obsession for him but a call to serve, if needed.
