2027: ‘There has been no decision regarding Peter Obi’ – Haneze Ndigbo

Pan-Igbo’s socio-political organization, Ohanaze Ndigbo Worldwide, said the agency had not yet taken a stand on the ambition of the 2027 President of the former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, also did not make a decision about candidates to support the 2027 presidential election.

Deputy Secretary of the National Publicity of the Agency, Ikechukwu Oji, who made a statement when speaking with journalists at Enugu on Saturday, said the organization was still consulting and developing a strategy to identify a candidate who would be able to overcome various problems that overshadow the country including the challenges of insecurity.

“Ohanaze has not taken a position where the candidate will return in the 2027 presidential election. This is only in 2025, we still see the problem of the creation of additional countries in the southeast and the problem of insecurity.”

Speaking specifically about the former presidential candidate from the Labor Party, Oji said:

“Peter Obi is not only our son, but the prominent Nigerian and he is very eligible to fight for the country’s presidency. But Ohanaze as the body has not taken a stand on the candidate to support. When the time comes, we will do it.

“We have other more urgent problems such as the constitutional amendment, overcoming insecure and murder throughout the country. This is a problem that people must talk about today, not the 2027 election. This is still too early. The 2027 problem will be handled in time.

“People must live to be able to choose. Look at the killings that occur in Benue, highlands, southeast and other parts of Nigeria. This is what people are more concerned.

“There is a local government election in the state of Lagos, but there is a low and apathetic number of voters. What is said to us is that people have lost confidence in the election process.

“So, we must be more worried about how we can ensure that people’s voices count and improve the election process in this country. How do we ensure that credibility is brought back to the electoral system? Constitutional amendments must be worried about every Nigerian more than the 2027 election. So, Ohanaze Ndigbo has not yet taken positions in the candidate.

“The truth of this problem is that Ohanaze is not a political party or colleague of any political group. However, we are interested in policies and laws that influence our people.

“Whereas for 2027, we witnessed what various political parties have for Nigerians and how it influences our people. We do not interfere with internal party problems. However, when we arrive at the bridge, we will think of how to cross it.”
