2Baba meets the Minister of Defense to promote music as a tool against youth violence
Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has met with Nigerian Defense Minister, General Christopher Musa (rtd) to discuss a new initiative aimed at using music to combat youth violence and promote positive social values.
The visit, which the singer revealed in an Instagram post on Saturday, focused on a cultural program designed to use music and entertainment as tools for youth reorientation and social change.
According to 2Baba, he and members of his strategy team briefed the minister on the initiative’s aim to counter violent narratives among Nigerian youth by promoting constructive messages through music and other creative platforms.
“I had the honor of meeting with the Honorable Minister of Defense of Nigeria, General CG Musa, alongside my strategy team to explore how music can help counter violent narratives among young Nigerians,” the artiste wrote.
He explained that the initiative aims to transform entertainment into a force for social impact by encouraging positive values among young people.
“During the meeting, I presented a cultural initiative that uses music as a tool for the reorientation of young people, promoting positive values and transforming entertainment into a force for social impact,” he added.
2Baba noted that Nigeria’s large youth population makes such initiatives necessary to promote meaningful engagement and discourage negative influences.
“With over 150 million youth in Nigeria, many of whom are vulnerable to negative influences, initiatives like this are important to spark meaningful conversations, empower creative talent and channel youth energy towards nation-building,” he said.
The meeting highlights growing efforts by government and creative industry stakeholders to leverage music, culture and youth engagement as part of broader strategies to address social challenges and promote peace across the country.
