President Bola Tinubu said on Friday that his administration had implemented bold policies to propel Nigeria out of the slump caused by various shocks in the global economy.
The President conveyed this when opening the 2024 African Caucus Meeting held at the Transcorp Hotel, Abuja.
Tinubu, who was represented at the event by Vice President Kashim Shettima, said his administration remains committed to optimizing the country’s economic potential to deliver beneficial outcomes for the citizens.
He said his government would ensure the sustainable development of the African economy as a whole.
The President said: “As a government, we have initiated bold economic reforms aimed at steering our economy away from the downturn caused by various shocks in the global economy.
“We believe this is the path to recovery and resilience through significant economic transformation.
“Our reform efforts are strategically focused on developing fiscal and monetary efficiency, promoting sustainable long-term economic growth, and catalyzing job creation in line with SDG priorities.
“Our efforts have yielded positive results, with improved macroeconomic stability and increased investment.”
He urged African countries to improve the quality of life for people across the continent.

The President also stressed the need for African leaders to ensure that democracy, good governance and economic institutions work together.
“We need to enhance international tax cooperation to combat illicit financial flows and ensure that multinational companies make their fair share of contributions to our economies.
“We must also promote global economic cooperation to address common challenges and seize opportunities.
“However, we must also recognize the need to take responsibility for our development by undertaking the difficult structural and fiscal reforms needed to drive long-term growth,” he added.
