Despite a valiant effort from both sides, the match culminated in a 1-1 draw, with William Troost-Ekong and Teboho Mokoena netting crucial goals.
Super Eagles’ head coach, Jose Peseiro, acknowledged his team’s momentary struggle towards the end of regular time, stating, “Around 90 minutes, I see that our team suffered, we were shaken, we lost the balance.” However, Peseiro commended his team’s resilience, highlighting their regrouping during the break before extra time.
Despite facing challenging moments from the South African side, Nigeria maintained composure and secured their place in the final. They will now face hosts Cote d’Ivoire in what promises to be an electrifying final showdown on Sunday.
