The Nigerian Army has vowed to investigate the death of an 18-year-old boy, Isma’il Muhammad, in Kaduna State.
The boy was allegedly shot dead by a soldier on patrol in Samaru, Zaria.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna, Maj. Gen. MLD Saraso, gave the assurance while visiting the family of the deceased on Tuesday in Zaria.
The GOC then spoke to the youths in the area and assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted into the matter.
He invited members of the public who had substantive evidence to forward it for further action.
Saraso said the incident was very unfortunate and appealed to the public to live in peace.

The victim’s mother, Zainab Sani, said the victim was shot by a soldier who was on patrol with his colleagues at around 9am, at their residence on Sarkin Pawa Street, Samaru, Zaria.
He said the late Isma’il was playing with his friends and brothers in front of their house when they saw soldiers coming towards them.
“With one of the soldiers pointing his gun at them, they ran into the house and closed the gate.
“However, the soldiers fired at the gate and killed Isma’il who was standing near the gate to prevent the soldiers from entering,” the mother said.
He added that his son had just taken his secondary school certificate examination in Zaria and was enrolling in university when the incident occurred.
