Fire in Philippines kills one, 200 evacuated

A fire on Wednesday killed a 69-year-old man suffering from Alzheimer’s disease in a residential area of ​​the Philippine capital.

The Bureau of Fire Protection said Thursday the fire that broke out at 5:30 p.m. local time in a district of Manila quickly swept through at least 20 homes and displaced 50 families out of a population of 200.

The bureau added that it took firefighters nearly an hour to bring the blaze under control.

Fire investigators are still trying to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
