Former President of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Charles Oputa aka Charly Boy has expressed his displeasure over the ongoing spat between Peter and Paul of P Square.
Recall last week that Paul in an interview with City FM presenter Paul hinted that there may be more problems brewing between him and his twin brother Peter when he recalled an incident that happened earlier this year involving the brothers.
He said that a few months ago, he was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding a petition written against me and my older brother.
Paul said; “Something happened this year. I was invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission regarding a petition written against me and my brother.
“When I got there, I asked them what happened. They had already printed my (bank) account statement, and they started an investigation. However, one month ago, they called us and our older brother and declared us innocent.
“The only difference is our lifestyles. He took us back to 2007 bank statements for a $200,000 line of credit (that I had), even though we traced some of the money to a vehicle he purchased. After the truth came out that I was innocent, he still didn’t apologize.
“I’m not talking, because I want to bring anyone down. He accused me of selling our catalog; the same catalog that I wrote 99 percent of. For now, I just want to continue doing what I’m doing.”
Responding to his brother’s comments in an open letter posted on his Instagram page on Monday, Peter said he was not in competition with his brother or anyone else.
He stated that he had seen interviews given by Paul in which he continually discredited his (Peter’s) efforts in the group that the two of them created and built together.

”In your last interview, you claimed that you wrote and sang 99% of all P Square songs and discredited me by saying that our song with TI ‘Ejeajo,’ which I wrote, was a failure. You even used the number of YouTube views to discredit me again.
”You never acknowledged other songs like: ‘Get Squared’, ‘Busy Body’, ‘Personally’, ‘Roll It’, ‘Temptation, ‘Alingo’, ‘More Than A Friend’, ‘Shekini’, ‘Say Your Love’, ‘Gimme Dat’, ‘Senorita’, ‘Igbedu’ and several others. Are these songs considered failures?” Paul wrote.
On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, Charly Boy responded to the issue on his Instagram page, expressing his displeasure at the way the twins handled their issues. He added that he wanted them to support and depend on each other.
“Peter and Paul, please, this is not good at all.” Charly Boy wrote, “I don’t get involved in other people’s business even though I know all the facts. You should be able to support each other at your age, never be seen as enemies. If you have a twin, you are indeed lucky, because twins, both fraternal and identical, are lucky to have each other.”
He went on to say that the two were too mature and professional to fight over petty arguments caused by sibling rivalry. He also stressed that, as twins, they should cherish their relationship and that they should resolve their differences peacefully and wisely.
“As twins, you have to watch yourselves live two lives. One for him and one for yourself. Biko, stop coming to the public and revealing what I think you can solve in your own homes. As a big fan, you are not twins, I am not happy,” Charly Boy concluded.
