UNICAL mobilizes out-of-school bread vendor for NYSC service – TrendyNewsReporters

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has revealed a shocking case of alleged fraud involving the University of Calabar, Cross River State.

According to Ahmed, among those who recently rallied for the NYSC program was a bread vendor who had never attended university.

This disclosure follows NYSC’s decision to cancel 101 certificates, bringing the total to 178 certificates invalidated by the program. These actions are part of NYSC’s efforts to clean up its mobilization process and ensure that only qualified graduates are recruited.

Brigadier Ahmed commended the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Professor Florence Obi, for her integrity in bringing the matter to light. According to him, Professor Obi alerted the NYSC after she noticed that unqualified individuals were being mobilized as graduates of her institution.
“The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar came here to report that he noticed that some names were on the institution’s list that should not have been there.
“She checked the list the school gave us and I told her that their certificates would be invalidated. Earlier, a bread vendor was mobilized on the graduation list of the same institution. There are bad apples in many places who generate matriculation numbers and courses for their candidates.”
The NYSC Director General assured that the programme will continue to take stringent measures to preserve the integrity of the service and protect the interests of genuine graduates across the country.
