Police officers in Akwa Ibom have arrested a man for alleged possession of a firearm and a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa.
State police spokesman, Timfon John disclosed this to journalists on Tuesday in Uyo.
John said the suspect was arrested by officers during a routine stop and search in the Ibiono Ibom area of ββthe state.
He said: βPolice operatives in Akwa Ibom in their persistent efforts to rid the state of criminals have arrested a suspect, who is an indigene of Ikot Obong village.

βHe was found carrying a firearm and a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa while riding a commercial motorcycle.
βWhen both were stopped and searched, a British Baretta Pistol with a defaced breech number was found in the passenger’s possession.
βA large quantity of marijuana suspected to be Cannabis sativa was also found hidden inside his rain boots.β
He said the items had all been recovered and the suspect had been arrested.
