Jordan Ayew will be Ndidi’s teammate at Leicester City

Jordan Ayew is close to becoming Wilfred Ndidi’s teammate after Leicester City agreed a deal with Crystal Palace for an £8m deal to sign the striker, the Daily Mail reports.

Leicester have been pushing to sign the 32-year-old after an initial bid of around £4m was rejected last week. Talks have continued with Steve Cooper keen to bolster his attacking options following a series of injuries.

Ayew has made 212 appearances for the Eagles, scoring 23 goals and providing 22 assists in all competitions.

Ayew’s salary will be £5m, with a further £3m in add-ons.

“I think we’re close, but we’ve been there before. I thought last week we were going to add two attacking players, but it didn’t happen. That’s just how it happened,” Cooper said Thursday.

“The upper part of the pitch is an area we would like to strengthen, as we have done in midfield. We want to strengthen all areas, but that might not be available in this window of opportunity.

“We are very interested in closing some deals and we are working hard. If it happens, great, if not, then we trust the lads who are here. That is important.

“If we can add points, and I believe we will, but if we don’t, we will continue to move forward and commit to our goals.”

Ayew started on the bench in the 2-1 defeat to Brentford on Sunday, coming on for the final 20 minutes to replace Daichi Kamada.
