Floods triggered by days of heavy rain have destroyed 1,650 houses in Jajere and Yunusari towns in Yobe State.
The Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje, disclosed this to journalists on Saturday in Damaturu.
He said 413 people in the area were displaced by the latest flash floods.

Goje said a final assessment of the damage caused by other floods in the towns of Yusufari, Wagir, Mutai Chirokusko, Bade and Potiskum was underway.
He said: “SEMA holds daily review meetings to assess the situation, update stakeholders and develop immediate response plans according to the vulnerability of the affected locations and the resources available on the ground.”
The SEMA chief said arrangements had reached an advanced stage for the delivery of relief materials to the affected communities as directed by Governor Mai Mala Buni.
