Chosen Generation Female FC of Ogun State could suffer another heavy defeat on Monday in the ongoing Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship playoffs in Calabar.
This follows a no-holds-barred statement from Ibom Angels assistant coach Nyang Uko who said his team will be looking for victory in their final Group B1 match.
Coach Uko further told sports247.ng after his side recorded a 2-1 win against fellow former top flight champions, Delta Babes of Asaba, that Ibom Angels will continue to improve with each subsequent match.
He admitted that Sundayโs match was tougher than the one they faced the previous day when they defeated Papa Soccer Angels of Lagos 3-0 at Saint Patrick College, Calabar, but revealed that they won their second game with superior tactics.
Uko added: โWe played against a good team, who have also played in the Premier League before.
โIt was a difficult match but, with the help of our tactical structure, skill and style of play that we used, we were able to dominate them.
โThanks to Godโs special grace, the girls performed better than in our first match. We are improving and moving forward step by step.โ
The assistant coach then looked ahead to Mondayโs clash with Chosen Generation and stated that maximum points will again be on the minds of everyone at the Uyo-based outfit as they aim to pick a promotion ticket in the semi-finals.
โWe believe that in our next match we will do even better than this.
โDelta Babes gave us a good fight, because they are better than our first opponent.
โI think that with this result we will take another step forward in our next match. Nothing less than promotion. That is our goal,โ said Uko.
