After more than a year since its launch in May 2023, the Dangote Refinery, on Tuesday, launched its first Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, from its 650,000 barrels per day capacity facility.
This was even expressed by the company’s chairman, billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote, who stated that “today is a day of celebration” for Nigerians.
He further stated that the quality of products from the refinery is equal to the quality of products from anywhere in the world.
βWe will now have good fuel while your vehicleβs engine will last longer. You will not have engine problems, which many of us have. That will not happen at all.

“The quality here will be on par with the quality anywhere in the world; the US, America, we will make sure that no one will beat us in terms of quality,” Dangote said at a press conference on Tuesday.
The refinery owner said as soon as his company finalizes the modalities with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the product will be released into the market.
βOnce we complete NNPCL, our products will start being marketed.
“We will help restore industry and manufacturing. We will start real import substitution, which we have been doing, you know, saving foreign exchange, generating foreign exchange, which will stabilize the naira, and it will also help bring down inflation and the cost of living,” he said.
