Days after the Edo State government announced the shifting of the resumption date for the 2024/2025 academic session as a result of the recent increase in fuel prices, the Kano State Government has also postponed the resumption date for primary and secondary schools in the state.
Director of Public Enlightenment in the State Ministry of Education, Balarabe Kiru, who made this known in a statement on Saturday, said the directive came from the Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Umar Doguwa, who noted that the decision was prompted by some undisclosed ‘compelling reasons’.
However, Kiru assured that a new date for the resumption of schools will be announced soon by the ministry.

“I wish to inform students, learners and parents that the previous announcement regarding the resumption of school on September 8 and 9, 2024 has now been postponed,” Kiru said in the statement.
“This is due to several pressing reasons that will help in improving the provision of a conducive learning environment for our children.
“The next day for resumption will be announced in due course,” he added.
However, the Ministry asks for understanding from affected parties, especially students and parents/guardians, regarding the inconvenience caused by the postponement.
