The House of Representatives on Wednesday vowed to address the failure to implement the president’s directive on the removal of universities and other higher education institutions from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on University Education, Abubakar Fulata, stated this when the committee met with the Vice-Chancellors’ Conference in Abuja.
He said the committee was determined to address any issues that would affect the smooth operation of universities across the country.
The Chairman noted that President Bola Tinubu had listened to parliamentarians and approved the removal of universities and other tertiary institutions from IPPIS.

He said the President also re-established boards and agencies for higher education institutions and recently approved a 50 percent subsidy on electricity tariffs for hospitals and higher education institutions.
Fulata is optimistic that the problem of not implementing the president’s directive regarding IPPIS will be resolved.
He noted that a vice-chancellor of a university has to go through about seven Ministries, Departments and Agencies (K/L) under the IPPIS platform before a cleaner can be hired.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on July 12 ordered the country’s university system to be immediately removed from the IPPIS platform.
