The Lagos State Government has announced that the Eko Bridge will be closed for eight weeks to allow for emergency repairs by the Federal Ministry of Works.
Repairs will begin on Monday, September 16, and will be carried out in four phases, according to Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Lagos State Commissioner for Transport.
During this period, the bridge will be closed periodically, either partially or completely, depending on the work schedule. Commissioners urge motorists and passengers to use alternate routes to cross the state.

Alternative routes provided by LASG are:
β Island: From Funsho Williams Avenue, use the service lane at Alaka to connect to Costain and access the Eco Bridge.
β Island: Costain access to connect Eko Bridge and connect Apongbon.
β Apongbon into Eko Bridge: Connect Costain to access Funsho Williams Avenue.
β For Costain towards Alaka/Funsho Williams Avenue: Take Apapa Road from Costain and connect Oyingbo to access Adekunle, then connect to Third Mainland Bridge.
β Surulere: Use Costain to connect the Brewery in Abebe Village to connect Eric Moore/Bode Thomas.
LASG has confirmed that the bridge will reopen in the second week of November. Drivers and passengers are advised to plan their routes accordingly to minimize inconvenience.
