West Bromwich striker Josh Maja was on the scoresheet as his side lost 3-2 to Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Saturday.
In the championship, Maja continued his impressive scoring streak, although he could not save his team.
West Brom found themselves trailing from the start, conceding two goals in the first 25 minutes, one an own goal from Darnell Furlong and another from Josh Windass.
Despite the difficult start, the visitors made a spirited comeback in the second half with Maja scoring a crucial header inside the area in the 65th minute, closing the gap for ‘The Baggies’.
Alex Mowatt then tied the score at 2-2 with a goal in the 84th minute, igniting hopes of a turnaround.
However, Sheffield Wednesday were victorious just two minutes later, scoring the decisive goal and sealing a 3-2 victory.
Maja, who played the full 90 minutes, has become a key figure for West Brom this season.
The 27-year-old Nigerian striker now leads the English Championship in goals, with seven goals and one assist in just seven appearances.
Defender Semi Ajayi also contributed to the match, coming on as a late substitute for West Brom.
Even in defeat, West Bromwich Albion remain at the top of the Championship table, with 16 points from seven games, one point ahead of their closest rivals, Sunderland.
