[Press Release] The union of the Nigeria of journalists (Nuj), the Federal Council of the territory of the capital (FCT), has extended greetings of the Ramadan to all the Muslim brothers of the FCT of the profession, exhorting them to embrace the values of compassion, unity and self -discipline during the sacred month.
The Prime Minister, Comrade Grace Ike described Ramadan as a period of profound spiritual reflections and an opportunity to renew its commitment to service, truth and equity in journalism.
He said: “During this month of fasting and prayer, that our hearts are full of gratitude for the gifts we receive and the opportunities we have to serve our communities with truth and fairness.
The declaration reads. “It is time to remember the importance of empathy, humility and service, not only in our personal life, but also in our role as journalists committed to informing the public with precision and integrity”.
Comrade Grace Ike highlighted Ramadan’s meaning in promoting solidarity and compassion.
He urged journalists to support their professional responsibilities despite the numerous challenges they face.
“Ramadan’s month symbolizes a time of reflection, compassion and generosity, in which individuals and communities come together to support each other and extend the kindness to those who are in need,” said companion Ike.
Ike also invited all journalists, regardless of their religious background, to use the Ramadan period to reflect on their professional and personal commitments while strengthening the unit within the media community.
The declaration ended with prayers for peace, blessings and prosperity for all Muslim faithful and their families, expressing the hope that the spirit of Ramadan would all guide wisdom, courage and compassion.
