The federal commission of the judicial service, FJSC, approved the appointment of Kabir Akanbi as a head of the Head of the Supreme Court starting from February 13th.
The confirmation was contained in a declaration issued by dr. Festus Akande, director of information and public relations, Sunday at the Supreme Court in Abuja.
The appointment followed the retirement of Hajo Bello who reached the age of mandatory pension of 60 years in public service.
Before his appointment, Akanbi held the role of Deputy Chief Registration Head of the Electoral Petition Court Unit at the headquarters of the Court of Appeal, Abuja.
Akanbi graduated in Law from the University of Ibadan in 2001 and subsequently was called to the Nigerian bar in 2003.
In 2005, he graduated in LL.M from Temple University, in Filadelfia, in the United States of America.
He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the Institute of Information Management, Africa, respectively.
The main judge of Nigeria, judge Kudirat Kekere-Eekun, congratulated Akanbi for his appointment.
He urged him to apply his vast experience in legal practice, business consultancy and leadership of the public service, in particular in the development of software and legal technology, to further improve the efficiency, transparency and effectiveness of the Supreme Court.
