Anglican Bishop Carpets retired Senate for the refusal to honor the former President-Nwosu-BluePrint Newspapers Limited

The former Anglican Bishop of the diocese of Enugu, RT. Most of the Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, on Friday, accused Senator Adams Oshomole and the entire Senate for having accused the late Humphrey Nwosu of canceling the presidential elections of 12 June 1993 in the country.

Nwosu, the president of the National Electoral Commission (NEC), which conducted the 1993 presidential elections won by the late Moshood Abiola, was not honored even if the call to this effect was rejected by the National Assembly Thursday.

Chukwuma, while reacting to the Senate action during the burial of the late Nwosu in Ajali, Orumba South Local Government Area (LGA), described the declarations of Sen Oshiomole as meaningless.

β€œThis declaration of oshomole is devoid of absurdities because Humphrey Nwosu has not canceled the elections of June 12 and the former Babangida president has owned that he canceled the elections. Until the Nigerians apologize to the late ABIOLA and the deceased Humphrey Nwosu will not rest.

“Once again, what is happening in the north is because the Nigerians still have to apologize to Ndigbo and this is why the spirit and the blood of Igbo will continue to cause Boko Haram. Do not honor Prof Nwosu or not honor our brother and for the position of the Senate is very unfortunate and I know because he is Igbo,” he said.

Speaking also at the funeral, the governor of the state of Anambra, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, assured that the old aguan union would not have given in honoring the deceased electoral referee.

“After the funeral we governors of the south -est we would meet the president for the national honor to our brother and we are sure that he will grant us this request,” said Soludo.

Previously, the Minister of Works, Eng. Dave Umahi explained that the president has value for Nwosu and currently celebrates it for his profound contributions to Nigerian democracy.

Blueprint reports that at the funeral was also participated by the governor Alex Oti of the State of Abia, including the presidential candidate of the Labor Party, Peter Obi, former governor of the Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha and Sen Victor Umeh of the Central District of Anambra.
