The president has rejected claims by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar that he was investigated by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) for unfounded financial transactions with the Lagos state government.
Atiku on Thursday denied the report that he collected money from the Governor of the State Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his 2023 election campaign.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Paul Ibe, a former vice president described the satire as a propaganda of lies and the Kanak -Kanakak Park.
The Head of the Democratic Party (PDP) of the people emphasized that he did not know Sanwo-Olu and had never met him before.
In a statement issued on Friday, a special advisor about information and strategy to the President, Bayo Onanuga, expressed concern that since the defeat of Atiku in the 2023 presidential election, he failed to rise to the dignified role of an older statesman.
He argued that former vice president had chosen the path of rhetoric that divided and unfounded accusations said rather than contributing constructively to national discourse because he failed in his president’s offer.
He said the Tinubu Bola President remained focused on overcoming a critical national challenge and advancing his government agenda for Nigeria’s growth and stability.
The President, according to him, has no time or a tendency to be involved in small political disorders.
Onanuga said: “This claim, which is circulated through his media office, is wrong and reflecting a disturbing pattern by relying on social media gossip on the substance.

“It is very disappointing that a politician status of Atiku will provide credibility to the speculation of non -based social media to remain politically relevant.
“Assistance Atiku is childish and transparent tactics to be transferred from his political setbacks.
“His repeated efforts to drag the presidency and now the Lagos state government has become a controversy that is made -to reveal the offer that is desperate for attention in the midst of its fading efforts to reach the coalition.
“We urge Atiku Abubakar to direct his energy towards initiatives that foster unity, economic progress, and democratic stability – the quality that is needed by Nigeria.
“Finally, the former vice president must know that EFCC, as an independent institution, operates in its legal mandate without external influence.
“Every insinuation is the opposite harming the professionalism of the agency and the rule of law.
“The Presidential remains committed to transparency, accountability, and pursuit of national development – priorities that demand our unhapterized attention.”
