Akpabio asks for justice while Okpebholo Visit Barau – Blueprint Newspapers Limited

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, condemned the murder of 16 travelers in the Edo state, describing it as an senseless act of violence, unacceptable and has not placed in our society.

Akpabio in a declaration issued by his media helper, Jackson Uom, on Monday in Abuja, invited the safety agencies relevant to fish and do justice, authors of The Dastardly Act.

The condemnation of the killings and the request for justice from Akpabio, arrived at a time, the governor of the state of Edo, on Monday Okpebhaolo, visited the vice -president of the Senate, the senator Barau Jibrin and assured that justice will certainly be visited on the authors of the law, 14 of which they were arrested and in via di via for the question.

Akpabio said: “I am deeply saddened and disturbed by the gruesome murder of 16 travelers in Edo’s state. This senseless act of violence is unacceptable and has not placed in our society.

“He condemns this atrocious crime in very strong terms and urges the competent authorities to conduct an in -depth investigation and ensure that the authors of this barbarian act are brought to the book and held responsible for their actions.

“As people, we must work together to promote peace, unity and understanding between our people. We cannot allow ourselves to let these acts of violence divide us or undermine our collective efforts to build a better Nigeria”.

The Governor Okpebholo to guarantee the vice -president of the Senate of Justice for the Assassins, visited the residence of Senator Jibrin Maitama on Monday, where he revealed that 14 suspicions were arrested that according to him they were brought to Abuja for the interrogation.

The Governor Okpebholo has extended his condolences to the vice -president of the Senate, who come from the state of Kano, committing that the state government will help the families of the victims.

While ensuring that the authors will have to face the full anger of the law, he described the killings of innocent travelers as unfortunate and condemned.

“It is a pity that it happened in our state. We are here to say, to let you know to you and to other people who are not happy.

“The president is doing something drastic in this. He is not happy too. The IG has come into action. The excavation CID is in command. So far they have arrested 14 suspicions.

“So they are taking them to Abuja for the interrogation. We have also established a committee to see that we take care of the families of the deceased,” he said.

By responding, the vice -president of the Senate said that the authors of the law must be brought to the book to serve as a deterrent for others.

“We cannot cancel what has been done. But we all want – all the Nigerians, what they can’t wait is to make sure these people are arrested and brought to justice. And you are going well in that direction. And I am also happy to have talked about the fact that your government is ready to help the families of the affected people.

“I want you to continue to pursue the case so that all those who have been involved in these barbaric actions are brought to justice. It is a barbaric action, to say the facts.

“If they were brought to justice, it would be a deterrent for those who may want to do it in the future. I know that people from other parts of the country have remained with your people in Edo for centuries in a very favorable atmosphere. And this barbarian act has never happened. I am sure, under your watch, this will not happen again,” he said.

A crowd had on Thursday last week in Uromi Town, in Edo’s state, intercepted the innocent travelers who were going to the state of Kano for the celebrations of the Sallah, they sacked their vehicle and killed them evidently.

The victims who were hunters come from the state of Kano.
