Lagos government warns commercial bus operators against route violations, illegal parking

The Lagos state government has warned commercial bus operators, especially mini bus drivers, daily language is known as “corope,” against illegal route violations and parking in all states.

Special advisors for the Governor of Transportation, Bpk. Sola Giwa, gave a warning in a statement signed on Tuesday by the Director of Public Affairs and Department of Enlightenment, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (Lastma), Taofiq Adebayo.

Giwa stressed the need for compliance with traffic regulations, by paying attention to irregular routes.

He said: “This strict guide is in line with the overall initiative of the government to instill order on the Lagos highway and ensure the flow of uninterrupted vehicle movements across the metropolitan city.”

The Governor’s aide directs all “Korope” operators to immediately stop utilizing unauthorized routes and warns that every violation will attract a full burden of law.

He revealed that the Lastma operators had been mandated as it should be to improve the enforcement strategy that aims to restrain the careless driving and practice of violating the law in the state.

He warned of the unconry and indiscriminate occupation of public roads for parking and loading activities.
